Pain

Race and Pain

News coverage discussing the 2016 Hoffman study which found many medical students and residents held false beliefs about biological differences in pain between black and white patients.

This video illustrates the biases in pain treatments that are experienced by individuals of ethnic minorities. It describes how pain is perceived and quantified, why biases exist in pain treatments, and what can be done to reduce them. This video was made by McMaster Demystifying Medicine students: Ayesha Shahid, Suraya Bondy, Harold Hunter, and Zeyu Guan.
